The Government Center building in downtown Lexington turns 100

Happy 100th anniversary!

The building that is the current home of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government turned 100 years old last month. It began as the the former Lafayette Hotel before the building became the municipal city hall.

It stood as a hotel for 43 years before it was purchased by the LFUCG in 1982. After some renovations, the building became the headquarters for the local city government in 1984.

The building is currently undergoing some renovations and repairs.
